I have a 4ft saguaro purchased 2 yrs ago and planted right away. It had a fairly good root system and the planting hole was well prepared - sandy well draining soil, slightly mounded, some sulfur in planting hole as we were instructed. It was planted about 6" deeper than the root ball, also as we were instructed. Watered about once every other month in winter and every 2 weeks or so in summer. Problem is, it is not taking up water. The ribs are almost collapsed even after deep soakings. No sign of damage or disease. There has never been any new growth at the top. Any ideas? |
